Random Facts

I really want to start a literacy program one day. I think that learning to read is vital in shaping our understanding of the world, without books we are encased in a world that is created for us by the thoughts and beliefs of those who think they know better! I want to start off small of course and supply books to those less fortunate, but later I want to teach children and young adults how to read and how to glean knowledge from books that can help them make decisions in their lives.

I will call it The Read Army (pronounced Red Army). Of course this is still all just in the back of my mind at this point, but I would really like to start making it a reality by the time I turn thirty. Over the summer I am going to start looking into how I can turn my vision into a reality!

I haven’t put together a clothing wish list since I was in grade 12. My goal this summer is to have enough to buy one item from each of the sub-categories. I didn’t include the shoes on this list because shoes are purchased spontaneously and only when I really need them.

Tonight I wrote my first monologue, pray for me.

It was a lot harder then I thought it would be and since I am not a drama kid or ever was, I am having all kinds of trouble understanding if it feels natural or at least interesting. My voice is so flat and cold and I know how I think it should sound but then when I try to act it out I fail miserably. Anyways this is a total distraction from the next processes which is reading from the Illuminated texts for history tomorrow.

How much have I missed school? A lot. I love learning and connecting different parts of history together through the most random classes. This semester sees me with no Russian history classes (upsetting) but three history classes, two focusing on the Enlightenment and they are intense. Like I leave every lecture with a headache and question marks in my notes. Also I’m in an Archeology class which is pretty interesting so far, though I missed the last lecture because I got lost in the Cornett building….bitch move.

Also I have a new roommate, I have known this one since high school and we have always had a good rapport. My last one left to accept a job in the NWT and I wish her all the best and hope she can come back soon. AND! my apartment now has new floors and windows which make it that much cooler.

Anyways this new year has seen a lot of changes right off the bat, and to be honest 99% of them have been amazing and positive. How awesome is that?

Check out my roommate’s blog.

Hope your new year is shaping up as awesome as mine is.
